JONESBORO – To complete an initiative Arkansas State University began last year to
put an automated external defibrillator (AED) in every major building on campus, the
Garrett Uekman Foundation purchased and donated an additional 18 units to A-State.
Those on hand for the presentation were (from left) Amber Boulton and Diana Boulton,
owner of American First Response; Jon Carvell, safety director for A-State; Michelle
and Danny Uekman, board members of the Uekman Foundation; and Heather Putnam, channel
partner manager for Zoll Medical Corp., the AED manufacturer. Carvell said the gift,
valued at $24,300, makes the devices more readily available throughout campus to help
individuals who experience cardiac arrest.
