Biography
Dr. Ehsan Naderi received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) in 2023. He currently serves as Director and Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering in the College of Engineering and Computer Science at Arkansas State University (A-State).
Dr. Naderi’s research advances the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) to strengthen the security, efficiency, and resilience of both smart grid operations and spacecraft mission phases. His work also explores the seamless integration of smart power systems with transportation infrastructure, driving innovation in next-generation cyber-physical energy systems. Central to this research is addressing the challenges of safety-critical AI/ML, with a focus on ensuring reliable, robust, and verifiable performance in constrained, mission-critical environments.
In recognition of his accomplishments, Dr. Naderi was honored with both the college-wide and university-wide Faculty Excellence Awards in the Emerging Scholar category in February and April 2025, respectively. Additionally, he received the college-wide Faculty Excellence Awards in both the Emerging Scholar and Outstanding Teaching categories in February 2026.
During his doctoral studies at SIUC, Dr. Naderi was awarded the prestigious Dissertation Research Fellowship by the College of Engineering, Computing, Technology, and Mathematics. He also received multiple Best Paper Awards at IEEE conferences, including International Conference on Smart Grid, Artificial Intelligence–Internet of Things, and International Conference on Green Energy and Smart Systems, among others.
Dr. Naderi serves as an Associate Editor for Evolutionary Intelligence (Springer Nature), an editorial board member for Scientific Reports (Springer Nature), and a Review Editor for Grid Efficiency (Frontiers in Smart Grids). He also actively contributes to the academic community as a reviewer for more than 40 peer-reviewed scientific journals. In recognition of his service, he has received four Outstanding Reviewer Awards from leading journals, including International Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems, Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence, Computers & Operations Research, and Engineering Science and Technology – an International Journal.
