JONESBORO – Creativity is brewing as the annual Halloween Art Bash returns to Arkansas State University. It will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30, in the new state-of-the-art Windgate Hall of Art and Innovation. A frightfully fun night, full of art and activities, it will also allow the community to experience this new space on campus.

Windgate Hall was built on the idea of collaboration, and Art + Design and the College of Engineering and Computer Science (CoECS) are bringing this year's festivities to life together.

“We will have featured wall pieces and decorations displaying students' talents and collaboration. The computer science students have also 3D-printed giveaways for attendees. Further, we will have interactive inflatables produced by art students, with one you can even walk into,” said Caitlan Smith, instructor in art history.

Further reflecting the mission of Windgate Hall, various other groups around campus are also getting involved in the fun, like transforming the building's new gallery space into a spooky haunted house.

“As you wander through, you will be able to see Spooky Lab’s X-rays designed by radiology students, vintage 19th-and 20th-century Halloween postcards from the Arkansas State Museum’s collection, animal skeletons from the new College of Veterinary Medicine, and even have your fortune told,” she said.

Attendees are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes. Arts and crafts activities will include painting your own rock monster, coloring pages and face painting. The first 50 guests will also be able to paint their own tote bag. The Bradbury Art Museum’s visiting Día de los Muertos artist, Martha Molina, will also be on hand to assist guests with a paper flower activity.

For younger visitors, the trunk-or-treat promises plenty of Halloween goodies. Kids can fill their bags with candy, temporary tattoos and buttons.
